WASSCE/SSSCE Certificate Holders

Applicants must have grades (A1-C6/A-D, respectively) in three (3) core subjects: English Language, Mathematics, and Integrated Science; and MUST pass Elective Mathematics and any two elective subjects. Applicants who do not have Elective Mathematics but have B3 or better in Core Mathematics, may also apply.

Special Information for Mathematics Applicants

• Holders of 1st degree in Basic Education (Mathematics option) and other degrees related to Mathematics who wish to pursue a B.Sc. Mathematics Education could be considered for Level 200 or 300, based on the strength of their qualification.

• Holders of 1st degree in Basic Education, with other specialised subject areas, could also contact the department for such consideration, please.

HND and University Diploma/Post-Diploma holders: Applicant must have a Higher National Diploma (HND) Certificate (At least a Second-Class Lower Division) in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or its equivalent in the relevant area of study.

Advanced Business Certificate (ABCE) Candidates

Must have the full Diploma Certificate. In addition, applicants must have five GBCE /SSCE/WASSCE passes (Grade D or better) in the three core subjects and any two relevant elective subjects.

Higher National Diploma Candidates

• Must have a minimum of Second Class Lower in the area of specialisation.

• Where the HND held by the applicant is not in the area of specialization applied for, the applicant may have to start at Level 100.

• HND holders who apply for courses in the same area of specialization will be placed at Level 300 for non-education-related programmes and Level 200 for education-related programmes.

➢ For applicants to B.Sc. Natural Resources Management and B.Sc. Agriculture Engineering, Technology and Innovation Education, any three of the above elective subjects can suffice. Also, credit passes in Geography, Economics, and Government are acceptable for Natural Resources but not Agriculture Engineering.

➢ Regarding B.Sc. Agribusiness Management and Entrepreneurship Education, credit passes in all the business subjects are acceptable.

General Entry Requirements

• Science Students

For holders of WASSCE, SSSCE, and School Certificate/GCE Certificate, candidates should have Core Mathematics, English Language, and Integrated Science (Grades A1-C6). Additionally, they should have three electives: Chemistry, Physics, Biology, or Elective Mathematics.

• International Science Students

The required subjects are English Language, Mathematics, Biology/General Agriculture, Physics, and Chemistry plus one Arts subject and Further Mathematics.

• Non-Science Students

For certificate holders of WASSCE, SSSCE, and School Certificate/GCE Certificate, candidates should have passed (Grades A1-C6) in three core subjects: Integrated Science, English Language, Core Mathematics, and Social Studies. Additionally, they should have obtained (Grades A1-C6) in three of the following elective subjects: Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Elective Mathematics, Food and Nutrition, General Knowledge in Art, Economics, Animal Husbandry, Geography, Government, History, Literature in English, General Agriculture, Information Communication Technology and Management in Living.

• Top-Up Students (Diploma and Professional Certificate Holders)

Candidates with Diplomas awarded by recognised institutions will gain entry into level 300. Such candidates must have obtained a Diploma from a Ministry of Health

UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMMES AND ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Training Institution or an Institution whose Diplomas are recognised by GTEC or a University. Professional Certificate Holders in SRN, Public Health Nursing (PHN), and other health-related programmes are also eligible. They must have a final grade point average (FGPA) of 2.50 or better in the Diploma Programme. However, certificate holders will gain entry into level 200.

All Public Health Applicants must pass a selection interview.

WASSCE Certificate Holders

Applicants should have “credit passes” or better in six (6) WASSCE subjects (A1-C6), including English Language,

Mathematics and Integrated Science or Social Studies, and any three elective subjects. The total aggregate should not be more than 36.

SSSCE Certificate Holders

Applicants with SSSCE should have “D” or better in English Language, Mathematic and Integrated Science or Social Studies, and any three elective subjects, (A-D). Total aggregate should not be more than 24.

CTVET or NABPTEX Certificate Holders

Applicants must have three (3) passes; comprising two (2) core subjects: including English Language and Core Mathematics, and two (2) elective subjects from the Technical Exams Unit (TEU) of Ghana Education Service (GES) or any two (2) elective subjects in the relevant area of study.

Diploma Applicants

Applicants should have obtained a Diploma in Early Childhood Education, Diploma in Basic Education or its equivalent from any recognized institution.

Post Diploma

UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMMES AND ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Holders of Diploma in Basic Education can apply to do a bachelor’s degree in:

• Early Grade

• Upper Primary

• Junior High

GBCE Applicants

Applicants should have Passes (A-D) in five (5) subjects comprising three (3) core subjects, including English Language and Mathematics as well as two (2) relevant elective subjects.

GCE Advanced Level Holders

Applicants should possess passes in three (3) subjects (at least, one of the passes should be grade D or better).

Also, applicants must have had credit passes (grade 6), in five (5) GCE ordinary-level subjects including English Language, Mathematics, and a Science subject.

Baccalaureate and Foreign qualification

Applicants will be considered on recommendation and establishment of equivalence by the National Accreditation Board. Otherwise, candidates may apply as mature applicants.
